our story
The company has its origins at Eel Pie Island in London, England and was first established more than 30 years ago by Tom Rees. Tom was restoring wooden boats, producing free standing solid wood furniture and exhibiting his own designs on Europe´s fares.
At the end of 1990´s during his travels throughout Europe Tom was overwhelmed by post-revolution Prague and decided to take the opportunity and brought his skills to the Czech Republic to start producing furniture for local representatives of international clients, to name a few Moneta money bank, Deloitte, Bloomberg or Saudi Arabian Embassy.
Currently, Sylkie, s.r.o. is located 20km north of Prague in Nelahozeves.
Our clients range throughout Europe – for example, for Champneys in UK we produced a complete set of furniture for Forest Mere luxury suites. We have worked with Rapha on prototyping the new concept for London Soho Clubhouse which was then repeated in Rapha´s Harrods and Munich shops.
Sylkie, s.r.o. is also actively engaged in the production of limited edition their own brand of nouveau/retro wooden motor boats as an exciting addition to the established furniture business.
Thanks to our team of experienced designers and project managers we can manage and coordinate batch production for large projects.
